Draka FTTH Indoor Configurator provides fast feedback on indoor fiber installation alternatives providing detailed labor and bill of material information
Amsterdam, February 7, 2011 – Draka Communications, a global leader in the cabling and optical fiber industry today announces a new online FTTH application which allows users to perform FTTH indoor installation configurations, together with a visualization of the building, and detailed labor and bill of material information. Draka FTTH Indoor Configurator is a web-based application which extends the functionality of DrakaXSNet FTTH Software Suite by giving project managers and engineers the ability to visualize, analyze and estimate typical FTTH indoor installations prior to making a final implementation choice. Visit the Draka FTTH Indoor Configurator here.
Draka now offers a comprehensive portfolio of indoor solutions and components for the multiple choices a project manager is faced with in running fiber throughout a building. Customers have an extensive range of distribution boxes, drop cables, riser cables, protective ducts and outlet boxes to suit many possible situations. These products have been developed and constantly refined from real-world FTTH installations in a variety of project environments. Draka indoor solutions are built upon BendBrightXS bend-insensitive fibers which are ideal for complex multi-dwelling units, offering an excellent ratio between cost and bend-loss performance.
Draka FTTH Indoor Configurator lets a user create a conceptual image of all final indoor fiber network requirements for a building, guiding him from the outside manipulation, adding apartment dimensions, location, fiber requirements, cable lengths, riser requirements and the optimal positioning of distribution boxes throughout the project. Once approximate dimensions are entered online, the application generates, for each indoor network possibility, a see-through visual of the building complete with floors, apartments, riser cables and all manipulation and connection points. The application calculates Bill of Material information together with installation times and component quantities.
“ We’re pleased that this do-it-yourself approach for customers will assist them in making make faster, better informed decisions to complete successful indoor FTTH projects.” says Dick van den Dool, Director DrakaXSNet Software Suite, Draka Communications. “ We are aware of the time investment required to assess the multiple alternatives for an indoor installation. This simple online application will be of great assistance for FTTH project managers and site engineers. ”
