Profi Sound Flex audio cables meet EU and US standards for the reliable transmission of analogue and digital audio signals
Cabsat, March 3, 2009 --. Draka Communications announces Profi Sound Flex , a new, flexible, all-purpose audio cable which will be cable of choice for the many different applications in studios and broadcasting vans.
Profi Sound Flex is a robust, multi-purpose solution for everyday broadcasting. It is characterized by the reliable transmission of analogue as well as digital audio signals. The Draka cable fulfils the European specification EBU as well as the American AES standard. As a universal cable, it can be applied for studio use as well as in broadcasting vans.
“With Profi Sound Flex we have designed an all-rounder which is always the right cable for many different transmissions in studios and broadcasting vans,“ says Marc Oliver Hentschel , Marketing Manager, Multi Media Specials, Draka Communications. “ In a market where other products can only transmit analogue, Draka has succeeded in manufacturing audio cables which now transmits both analogue and digital signals, a major advantage to our customers.“
The cable flexibility is achieved by the DMC Flex PVC sheath which has been designed to ensure a reliable transmission between -30 °C and +70 °C. Depending on the cable type, the Profi Sound Flex has an outer diameter of 10 to 15 mm. Thus, it is possible to wind even longer lengths on one drum. Eventually, the cable offers a wide scope of applications because of its compatibility with all common connectors.
The Profi Sound Flex audio cable consists of bare stranded Cu-wires as the conductor, with a diameter of 0,60 mm and a Foam-Skin PE insulation. The two cores are twisted to a pair with a screen of Aluminium-PET foil. PBT (diameter 3,5 mm), applied for insulation. Wrapping is with a polyester web. Bending radius amounts to 10 times the outer diameter without tension and 15 times the outer diameter with tension. The audio cable fulfils American standard AWG 24/7. It is available in four types with a standard length of 1000 m for each and, depending on the type, a weight of between 90.5 and 203 kg per kilometre length.
