New pre-connected cable range leverages company’s Universal Cable brand reducing costs of installation and downtime by as much as 50%
Amsterdam, February 22, 2010 -- Draka Communications, a global leader in the cabling and optical fiber industry today presents a new range of pre-terminated cabling solutions for LAN and Data Center applications. The new range combines for the first time Draka patented twisted pair cables with Class EA performing connectivity solutions. Marketed as UC Precon (UCPrecon ) , Draka’s Data Centre solutions provide everything LAN and data center designers need to plan a coherent migration path to 10GbE/8GFC and higher Datacom infrastructures. Draka will demonstrate the new pre-terminated solutions at the Data Centre World Conference in London (Feb 23-24).
Draka’s pre-connected cables bring to the market end-to-end factory tested and guaranteed cabling solutions that meet the latest IEEE802.3 channel specifications, facilitating the deployment and maintenance of 10Gigabit Ethernet capable networks. Pre-connection reduces the costs of installation and downtime by as much as 50%. As high-performance cabling needs protection against all kinds of environmental stress due to regular moves, additions and changes, these Draka designs have been optimized for robustness and durability over the entire investment life cycle.
Robustness is achieved by cable designs that use shielding technology which meets today’s need for slim cables. This includes Draka patented ZEBRATM cable that protects electronic systems from the negative effects of earth loop currents.
The Draka UC Precon (UCPrecon ) program also features recently introduced bend-insensitive MaxCap-BB-OM3/4 multimode fiber, suitable for demanding configurations, such as challenging cabling routes with tight corners, small footprint data centers and when more connectors are needed in data center backbones. Draka’s new bend-insensitive multimode fiber provides important, additional power margins compared to the bending performance of regular multimode fibers.
