Draka meets demand for Turkey CATV backbone expansion

Major contract for 600 km of copper trunk cable and 150km fiber optic cable to upgrade and expand  digital broadband services in regions around the country

 

Amsterdam, April  29, 2010  -- Draka Communications, a global leader in the cabling and optical fiber industry, today announces a major contract for CATV copper and fiber backbone infrastructure in Turkey. In an agreement initiated through Draka’s local distributor Focabex , the company will deliver throughout 2010 around 600 km of low attenuation copper trunk cable for underground and aerial use in addition to 150km of high fiber count fiber cable.

The primary Turkish cable TV company broadcasts around 180 TV Channels, received through satellite earth stations located in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir and in other major urban centers. These satellite earth stations, including three satellites, are owned and operated by Turksat.
