Robust foil design allows the convenience of a new packaged solution that replies to increasing customer concerns for cable handling convenience and increased efficiency for installation
Amsterdam, June 28, 2010 – Draka Communications, a global leader in the cabling and optical fiber industry, today announces that it has now made available its patented twin-foil Cat.6a cable in REELEX® packages. This innovative packaging system offers more than 300 m of UC500 S23 Cat.6a cable per box and offers easier storage, handling and less wastage for cable installations. Draka’s reel-less Cat.6a packages will be available in the United Kingdom in Autumn of this year, with further plans for mainland Europe distribution at a later stage.
The new packed solution is made possible because of the robustness of the patented foil design in Draka’s latest Cat.6a cable. Draka UC500 S23 Cat.6a meets IEEE 802.3 requirements for up to 10Gbase-T data applications as well as all other network services over Class EA channels. The four 0.56 mm twisted pair copper wire conductors are individually screened with Draka’s patented, high performance, aluminium laminated plastic foil which provides excellent return loss and attenuation characteristics over a 500 MHz frequency range.

REELEX® Patented Technology
REELEX tangle-free technology is a patented method of winding a cable (such as cord, wire, cable or tubing) into a figure of eight coil, in such a way as to result in a reel-less, self supporting cable dispenser. This unique coil feeds the cable from the inside-out without twists, tangles or snags, minimizing overruns. This innovative system benefits every component in the supply chain, a the packages are easy to handle, stack and palletize, are lighter than metal reels and spools as well as having the benefit of being environmentally friendly.
