Cooperation with experts in optimization technology allows customers to analyze and prioritize the most cost-effective FTTH network in minutes
Amsterdam, February 9, 2011 – Draka Communications, a global leader in the cabling and optical fiber industry today announces a new high performance FTTH network optimization solution, the result of close cooperation with atesio, a reputed optimization specialist. With this solution, an FTTH network for an entire city comprising thousands of dwellings can be visualized and automatically cost-optimized. The solution accomplishes in minutes what a network project team could take up to a week to produce, delivering an immediate graphical overview in a GIS such as Google Earth. Draka and atesio will give a live demonstration at the FTTH Conference in Milan.
Draka and atesio, a member of the Berlin-based research consortium FTTX-PLAN, introduce this network optimization utility as a decision support system to existing and potential clients who need detailed feedback on the network topology of a current or planned FTTH project in order to prioritize the most efficient way to build a network. Often this is necessary to help decision makers predict the maximum financial return from a specific network sector within the planned infrastructure.
“Our partnership with atesio advances FTTH network topology design to help network planners make essential business decisions.” says Dick van den Dool, Director DrakaXSNet Software Suite, Draka Communications. “The results of our cooperation can have an immediate impact on efficiently managing every FTTH site, especially for large city projects in which specific geographical sectors offer the possibility to deliver faster returns on FTTH investment.”
DrakaXSNet Software Suite now offers a portal to atesio’s computing and optimization capability. This facility processes data based upon true coordinates and real-life trails using proprietary algorithms, automatically generating high-level FTTH networks for management review.
DrakaXSNet already features automatic labeling, routing and connectivity functionality for FTTH networks. By accessing the resources and new optimization methods developed by atesio, large scale networks can now be designed within very short timeframes. Through atesio’s optimization algorithms, the best network is intelligently calculated. The solution also allows customizable program settings and takes into consideration existing ducts, as well as all relevant material and labor costs.
About atesio
The company was founded in 2000 as a spin-off of the optimization department of the Konrad-Zuse research institute in Berlin, Germany. atesio provides sophisticated and powerful network optimization components which apply state-of-the-art optimization technology into industrial solutions for the telecommunications industry. The company’s founders have a long record of successful optimization projects for network operators, developing advanced algorithms and software components and providing consulting services for fixed, access, and radio network planning. Solutions from atesio result in substantial savings and improvements in network design and quality. Moreover, atesio has received extensive recognition, including the Vodafone Innovations Award, for its contribution to telecommunications and mobile network optimization.
