Underground splice and termination housing for FTTx networks

Protected housings for use in underground chambers, Draka Outdoor Underground Distribution Closures support splicing, branching and splitting optical fiber cables and provide a small, compact means to manage fiber storage. Security is high yet access easy if the underground storage chamber is well managed. Many sizes and shapes available, from a few to many fiber circuits per joint closure. Can also be used with outdoor poles.

Universal Splice Closures

Aerial, underground and direct-buried easy access dome closure for 192 splice. The closure meets all requirements if IEC 61753-1 Cat.S (Subterranean environment), IP 68 and Bell Core/Telcordia GR-771-Core requirement. This universal closure has a maximum splice capacity of 192 splices; but splice capacity is highly dependable on the cable sizes and application. For application as a distribution node, the closure has a maximum capacity of 96 subscriber cables with two fibers each.

Direct-buried in-line Closure

The splice closure is an in-line, re-enterable closure for the organization and protection of fiber optic cable splices in direct buried access networks. The closure meets all requirements of IEC 61753-1 Cat.S (Subterranean environment), IP68 and Bell Core / Telcordia GR-771-CORE requirements. For application as a distribution node the closure has a maximum capacity of 48 subscriber cables with 2 fibers each, and an outer diameter of 5-7 mm.

Joint Closure (BPEO)

The BPEO splice closure can be used as a dome or in-line, re-enterable closure for the organization and protection of fiber optic cable splices in direct buried access networks. The closure meets all requirements of IEC 61753-1 Cat.S (Subterranean environment), IP68 and Bell Core / Telcordia GR-771-CORE requirements.

Universal Metallic Joint Closure

The universal joint closure XOK 10 is designed to provide pressure-tight environmental protection for optical fibers and optical fiber splices, regardless of the cable design. Applications range from aerial to buried installations. The closure has anchoring points for strength members and facilities for the earthing of metallic elements. The splice organizer trays offer holders for splices and sufficient room for spare fibers.

Direct-buried in-line Closure (Window-cut)

The splice closure is an in-line, re-enterable closure for the organization and protection of fiber optic cable splices in direct buried access networks. The closure meets all specifications of IEC 61753-1 Cat.S (Subterranean environment), IP68 and Bell Core / Telcordia GR-771-CORE requirements. For application as a window-cut, the closure has a special long splice tray with a maximum capacity of 72 splices.

Multi-Purpose Distribution Closure

The distribution closure is a direct buried closure developed for the application of direct buried feeder ducts and up to 48 direct buried subscriber drop cables ( 2 fibers each). The closure provides an underground chamber for the overlength of the blown 96 fiber feeder cable and direct buried drop cables. Its compact size fits in the trench and is easy installed by civil workers.

Direct Buried Heavy Duty Handhole (max 12 ducts)

This polyethylene double walled handhole is specially designed for direct buried underground use. Its heavy duty construction meets the most severe horizontal and vertical crush resistance standards, but because of the polyethylene material, it is still lightweight and very cost-effective to transport and install.

Handhole max. 12 ducts

The rectangular polyethylene handhole is used in duct systems and provides protection and storage facilities for one splicing / branching closure and excess cable required for installation and maintenance. The handhole is minimized in weight to make it possible to install in areas where deep digging is impossible. To install the duct tubes into the hand hole, a core drill (or hole saw) may be used to cut the appropriate sized entries. The ducts are connected to the handhole by means of regular screw mounted duct couplings. Centerpoints indicate the correct placement of the duct couplings and an optional a metal frame can be ordered to improve the side-loaded stability.

Direct Buried Heavy Duty Handhole (max. 18 ducts)

This heay duty handhole is designed as a direct buried underground housing. The handhole is splittable and can be used in existing duct systems. It supports the installation of most types of splice closures with enough space for cable excess length storage. The handhole can be used as an underground manipulation point for microducts and/or cables on all network locations.

Handhole Type 2, 3 and 4

The handholes type 2, 3 and 4 are designed as direct buried underground housings. The handhole is splittable and can be used in existing duct systems to add a distribution or manipulation point.. It supports the installation of most types of splice closures with enough space for cable excess length storage. The handhole can be used as an underground manipulation point for microducts, cables and fibers on all network locations.
