Optical fiber indoor/outdoor or universal cables 

The universal cables or Indoor/outdoor cables are cables intended for mixed indoor and outdoor use. They may be used for connecting office and industrial buildings or as drop cables for fiber optic telecom networks. The universal cables has an UV stabilized and weather resistant sheathing, in addition they features a fire retardant properties. The universal cables fall into 3 groups with regard to construction:
Central tube cables
The central tube cables are available in different executions with regard to tensile strength, general robustness and rodent protection. In addition a steel armored version is available. The maximum fiber count is 24 fibers. The central tube cables is best suited for long runs and termination schemes where pigtails are spiced to the fiber ends.
Stranded loose tube cables
The stranded loose tube cables offer the user a more robust solution, than the central tube cables and offer a solution for the higher fiber counts. Depending on the variant up to a maximum fiber count of 312 fibers are standard. As the central tube cables the stranded loose tube cables are best suited for the long runs and termination schemes where pigtails are spiced to the fiber ends.
Tight- or semi tight buffer cables
The cables come in two main construction groups: Distribution style or mini breakout cables where all of the buffered fibers are contained in a common sheath. Breakout or full breakout or heavy duty cables where each fiber is contained into a small single fiber cable. The single fiber cables are then grouped to form a complete cable.
