Brilliant premiere for the new Triax HD Pro+ cable solution
In February 2011, Garmisch-Partenkirchen invited the world’s alpine skiing elite to the heart of the Bavarian Alps. And they came: not just 469 top athletes from 67 nations, but also some 130,000 spectators, who followed all the spectacular action on the race courses, cheering and waving their flags.
There were also countless winter sports fans present at the races from in front of their TVs around the globe. Not only were these able to enjoy racy turns and jumps on the slopes, but also the outstanding transmission quality of the sports images. These “top marks” were largely down to Draka Communications with its new high-range Triax HD Pro+ cables.
Masterly solution for the “festival in the snow”
One of the key requirements to ensure that a complex TV broadcast like “GAP2011” goes without a hitch is fully functional, high-quality technical equipment. Strategic partners WIGE MEDIA AG and Draka Communications have been rising to this challenge in the international market for TV/ film productions and outside broadcasts for years. Together – successfully.
Draka Communications in conjunction with Fischer Connectors developed the Triax HD Pro+ solution especially for use under such extreme conditions which it showcased for the first time at the IBC in September 2010. The solution increases the scope of action for TV and film productions by as much as 30 percent and at the same time offers the very highest transmission quality with low attenuation values and minimum DC resistance. The Triax HD Pro+ cable is light, extremely flexible, easy to roll out and offers a long service life. The new sturdy and waterproof 1051 Triax HD Pro+ plug enhances the transmission properties even further.
Alongside the Triax HD Pro+ solution, more than 90 percent of all cables laid came from Draka. These included SMPTE and fibre optic cables (48 fibres) for the main course on the Kandahar, the standard video and audio product spectrum and a new 18- fibre special fibre optic cable, which was also developed in conjunction with Fischer Connectors, and SMPTE 311 11.
Following the overwhelming success at “GAP2011”, Draka Communications is going to tackle further “athletic challenges” for cable solutions. Outdoor sporting events place exceptionally high requirements on quality and flexibility, the unforeseeable can always happen – calling for the combined knowhow of the Draka specialists.
