Impressive supply contract for an impressive Paris hospital
South of Paris, a grand new and modern general hospital is being built. It is the biggest French medical construction of the decade. It is totally in line with modern environmental and (data) communication demands. For the latter, Draka was called upon to supply the cables for some 20,000 outlets. Also included was a new generation, patented 10 gigabit cable.
The ‘Centre Hospitalier Sud Francilien’ is an extensive project. It occupies some 8 hectares of land in the south of Paris. It will regroup eight existing care centers and have a capacity of 1017 beds. The future hospital is state of the art in many aspects. It is highly environmentally friendly and energy-saving. It is also an ‘intelligent building’ with extensive Local Area Network (LAN) facilities.
10 gigabit cable
Circumstances were very competitive but Draka was granted the contract. This included the supply of cables for a major LAN of some 20,000 outlets. Draka supplied Cat6a cables. This is a new generation 10 gigabit cable and a patented Draka design. The backbone was constructed with UC Fiber OM3. All of the cables have excellent fire behavior. The connectivity partner was 3M.
