Claremont, North Carolina, (NYSE EURONEXT: DRAKA) – Draka Communications Americas, one of the leading fiber optic cable manufacturers, announces that its newest ultra bend insensitive fiber has completed the rigorous requirements of independent lab testing. Branded as
Draka BendBright-Elite, this new ultra bend insensitive fiber can tolerate bends as small as 5mm while achieving attenuation values less than 0.1dB.
Draka BendBright-Elite fiber complies with ITU G.657 A1, A2, B2, and B3, meaning it delivers the highest level of bend performance while remaining backwards compatibility with legacy single-mode fiber. "Draka cables containing BendBright-Elite fiber can tolerate as many as one hundred fifty 90 degree bends and five hundred crown staples without experiencing power loss greater than 0.1dB. This level of performance makes our new fiber a perfect application for multiple dwelling units (MDU's), central offices, enterprises and retail centers where cables will be exposed to difficult installation routes or congestion of existing cables," states Jack Rosko, Marketing Manager at Draka Communications. Draka completed the test program in August 2010 and a large number of products are available with BendBright-Elite fiber.
In North America, BendBright-Elite is available in premise and outside plant cables. Draka introduced the BendBright family of bend insensitive fibers in 2002 and has since expanded the product family to four versions of bend insensitive fiber, spanning both single-mode and multimode types.
- BendBright – 10X bend improvement versus standard single-mode
- BendBright-XS – 7.5mm bend radius fiber with over 6 billion feet sold
- BendBright -Elite – 5mm bend radius fiber
- MaxCap-BB -OM3 & OM4 bend insensitive multimode fiber
