Specialty fibers - DrakaElite 

DrakaElite is Draka’s Specialty Fiber suite dedicated to the specialty market segment, with a comprehensive product offering from Medical to Marine Oil and Gas, including some Telecom for active and passive components.

With more than 20 years of experience in the field of optical fiber technologies, supported by unique proprietary process and an extended patent portfolio, DrakaElite is offering a quasi-unlimited number of solutions to exceed the requirements of your applications or of your market.

The possibility to combine state of the art glass technology with advanced coating and buffer technology in an industrialized manner is paving the way towards unprecedented performances and new applications.
500µm coated fibers
500 μm coating diameter optical fiber for improved protection as bare fiber or in demanding cable designs. These fibers are optimized for use in aerospace, transport, military and similarly exacting applications.
Dispersion compensation modules
Draka’s Dispersion Compensating Modules are based on Dispersion Compensating Fibers specially developed by Draka Communications using proprietary processes. Draka Communications DC Modules comply with or exceed the following requirements/directives: Telcordia GR-2854-CORE, EC 2002/96/EC (WEEE directive), EC 2002/95/EC (RoHS directive).
Erbium doped fibers
A complete family of Erbium Doped Fibers to meet the most stringent amplifier requirements for C-Band and L-Band laser amplification.
High temperature resistant fibers
Draka’s High Temperature Resistant Fibers provide optimum transmission performance in their wavelength operating ranges. These fibers can be used in all cable constructions designed for high temperature environments, including loose tube, metal tube and central tube designs.
Patch cord fibers
Draka Communications Patch Cord Fibers offer high precision glass geometry for best performance in connectors, pigtails, and in intense manufacturing applications as well. DrakaElite Patch Cord fiber is coated with a dual layer UV curable Acrylate, type DLPC9.
Polarization maintaining fibers
Draka’s Elliptical Core Singlemode Fiber provides optimum performance at 1550 nm operating wavelength for polarization-sensitive applications. The Elliptical core design of the fiber provides an improved resistance to environmental temperature variations.
Polymer clad silica fibers
Draka’s Polymer Clad Silica Fiber features a large core diameter for easy handling and high coupling efficiency to LED and laser sources. The special low index polymer cladding provides high temperature stability for fast and easy connectorization.
RadHard fibers
Improved multimode and singlemode fibers for use in radioactive environments (e.g. gamma rays, X-flash, neutrons protons). These DrakaElite fibers have been designed for reduced sensitivity to radiation.
Specialty MMF

Advanced buffering materials for DrakaElite, that provides increased shock, mechanical, temperature or chemical resistance. For passive components, it is also possible to offer DrakaElite’s fiber in ribbons.
